The Emirates ID, issued by the Federal Authority for Identity and Citizenship, must be carried by all residents and citizens of the United Arab Emirates. Citizens and residents of the UAE are required to carry a physical ID at all times, but the ICA has now released a digital version of the Emirates ID that may be used by applicants in the meantime. Let’s take a look at the process of applying for an e-Emirates ID.
You may access the ICA through the ICA UAE Smart app or the ICA website.
If this is your first time using the site, you’ll need to register by providing details such your name, a valid email address, and the numbers and expiry dates found on your Emirates ID and passport. After registering for the Emirates ID electronic edition, you will get a verification and confirmation email.
Your ‘UAE Pass’ credentials will also work to create an Emirates ID.
The QR code needed to generate an electronic Emirates ID card may be found in the “documents wallet” area of the programme.
Prior to receiving your official ID card in the mail, you may use your e-Emirates ID to access a number of government services. The same holds true for cellular providers like du and Etisalat.
